The BacT/ALERT VIRTUO fully automated blood culture system and the VITEK MS mass spectrometry system from bioMérieux have received FDA 501(k) clearance. The VIRTUO is a continuously monitoring blood culture microbial detection system offering “Load & Go” technology, which helps streamline lab workflow. The VITEK MS offers expanded identification of mycobacteria, Nocardia, and molds, and the database includes more than 15,000 distinct strains to provide high accuracy and enable safe identification of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis group.
