Roche has received FDA clearance for its moderate complexity molecular test for sexually transmitted infections, operating on a fully automated, high throughput platform. The Cobas CT/NG is intended for use on the Cobas 6800/8800 systems for the direct detection of chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and/or Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) DNA in both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Providing a tech-friendly solution, it aims to minimize hands-on time while allowing labs to incorporate STI screening with other assays currently available on the system, including tests for viral load monitoring and donor screening. The assay provides sensitivity and specificity for all relevant sample types.
