One of my favorite things is that Aha! moment when something I’ve never considered before is suddenly obviously clear. More often than not, these moments occur when I am reading a great book or preparing an MLM article for publication. I never cease to be amazed by the thoughtfulness so many of our authors bring to solving everyday problems in the lab and the risks they take to develop cutting edge approaches to the challenge of increasing testing efficiency and effectiveness.
It is our objective at MLM to continuously search out these Aha! moments and share them with you on the pages herein. This makes my job pretty terrific, and after working on many MLM articles over the past year, I am thrilled to now take on the role of Managing Editor, working with some of the great thinkers in hospital labs.
I am happy to report that David McCormick, our former Managing Editor, has not left us; he merely relocated and continues as Senior Editor of MLM. You can be sure that the spirit and voice with which he launched MLM will remain. His knowledge and contributions are invaluable.
I look forward to meeting many of you at such upcoming annual meetings as the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) meeting in July, the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) in September, and the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) in October. It is always a pleasure to see many of our long-time authors and readers and to make new acquaintances at these meetings. So, if you will be at AACC in Atlanta, do stop by booth 4156 and say hello. I would love to hear what laboratory projects have inspired your Aha! moments.
As always, we welcome your feedback. Please feel free to email me with suggestions and article ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
