Serving as a nerve center and information clearinghouse for most clinical laboratories, the laboratory information system (LIS) manages wide-ranging applications. Whether part of a facility-wide information system, or standalone, the LIS often is the primary interface for the majority of lab automation, and therefore it behooves each individual lab to maximize the utility of this system.

Given the wide-range of clinical labs, LIS providers of all sizes have market appeal. As clinical information and testing systems become more advanced and further intertwined, continual refinement of the LIS is imperative to the success of lab operations.
