Acquisition and implementation of new chemistry analyzers and integrated chemistry automation remains aggressive, as this is a stalwart technology in the laboratory. The use of high-, medium-, and low-volume chemistry instruments in facilities of all sizes allows for an integrated setup utilizing devices from several vendors. As testing volumes have fluctuated substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, many labs are finding their ability to be flexible invaluable. Adding automation to core chemistry also enables valuable staff resources to be assigned to other tasks.


A little under half (47%) of facilities planning to acquire new chemistry analyzers will do so within the next 2 years.


Facilities of all sizes have plans to acquire new systems, speaking to the universal need for chemistry instrumentation and automation.


The familiar names of Siemens, Roche, Abbott, Beckman Coulter, and Ortho Clinical are joined by Bio-Rad, and a few other vendors garnering notice.
