Robotic Sample Handling

April 2021 - Vol.10 No. 4 - Page #15
Category: Robotic and Automated Systems

The number of facilities utilizing robotic sample handling systems has steadily risen in the last few years, with a third (32%) of laboratories now making use of this efficient, safe, and time saving technology. Automated lines that transport samples and link related instruments and technology are now prevalent throughout all testing phases, including robotic sample transportation to and from the laboratory, and to and from short- or long-term storage.

Planned implementations are spread out over the next 5 years, but a majority (59%) plan to do so within the next 2 years.

As expected, larger facilities (200+ beds) are the most committed to implementing new robotic sample handling technology in the near future.

Familiar names in Roche, Beckman Coulter, Siemens Healthineers, and Abbott lead the pack in vendors under consideration.
