Nancy Smith, MAS, RN, is the senior director of patient care services at Howard County General Hospital (a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine) in Columbia, Maryland. She received her BA in biology from Grinnell College in Iowa, her BSN from St. Louis University, and her MAS from Johns Hopkins University. Nancy also is a part-time instructor for nursing students and assistant caregivers at Howard Community College
