Rapid Multiplex Phenotypic Test and Agar Medium

Hardy Diagnostics

Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) are a major concern for health care facilities, as some bacteria in this family are resistant to nearly all antibiotics, leaving only more toxic or less effective treatment options. Using HardyCHROM CRE and CARBA 5 from Hardy Diagnostics can accelerate detection for faster and more accurate treatment, saving time, money, and resources for the facility. The NG-Test CARBA 5 is a rapid, multiplex, phenotypic test capable of detecting KPC, OXA-48-like, VIM, IMP, and NDM carbapenemases produced by Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The system is designed to deliver fast and accurate results, as the test detects the gene expression crucial to therapeutic decision making. Offering 100% sensitivity and 95% specificity, it is user-friendly with five steps for use. The HardyCHROM CRE is a selective and differential chromogenic agar medium intended for the qualitative and presumptive detection from stool specimens of Escherichia coli that are non-susceptible to carbapenems as pink colonies and KES (Klebsiella aerogenes, Klebsiella oxytoca, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae complex, and Serratia marcescens) that are non-susceptible to carbapenems as blue colonies. Results can be interpreted after incubation for 18 to 24 hours.
